- 2 cups black beans (cooked or canned, drained and rinsed)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup bbq sauce
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- burger buns or lettuce wraps
- lettuce
- sliced tomatoes
- red onion
- pickles
- avocado slices
Instructions
- Mash the black beans in a bowl until mostly smooth with some texture remaining.
- Stir in the garlic, onion, breadcrumbs, BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper until well blended and firm.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook patties for 4–5 minutes on each side until they are firm and slightly crispy.
- Alternatively, bake or grill the patties if desired.
- Place the cooked patties on burger buns or lettuce wraps.
- Top with lettuce, sliced tomatoes, red onion, pickles, or avocado.
- Serve warm and enjoy.
