  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (500 g) potato gnocchi
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Start by boiling salted water in a pot and cook the gnocchi until they float to the surface. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft, then stir in the minced garlic.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles for a nice texture.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce along with the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream to enrich the sauce further.
  6. In a baking dish, layer the meat sauce, followed by the gnocchi and dollops of ricotta. Repeat these layers and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden. Let it rest before serving, then garnish with fresh basil.
