Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (500 g) potato gnocchi
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by boiling salted water in a pot and cook the gnocchi until they float to the surface. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until soft, then stir in the minced garlic.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles for a nice texture.
- Pour in the marinara sauce along with the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes.
- Stir in the heavy cream to enrich the sauce further.
- In a baking dish, layer the meat sauce, followed by the gnocchi and dollops of ricotta. Repeat these layers and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden. Let it rest before serving, then garnish with fresh basil.
