- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 8 oz block of cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 ½ – 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 13×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cloves in a medium bowl.
- In a large bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter-sugar mixture; blend well.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a thick dough forms.
- Press dough evenly into the baking pan.
- Bake for 20–22 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan; prepare frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until fluffy, then adding powdered sugar and vanilla.
- Frost cooled blondies and cut into 24 bars for serving.
