  • 8 oz block of cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 ½4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon clear vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 13×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cloves in a medium bowl.
  • In a large bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add molasses, egg, and vanilla to the butter-sugar mixture; blend well.
  • Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a thick dough forms.
  • Press dough evenly into the baking pan.
  • Bake for 20–22 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool in the pan; prepare frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until fluffy, then adding powdered sugar and vanilla.
  • Frost cooled blondies and cut into 24 bars for serving.
