- 3 pounds spare ribs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Chinese five spice powder
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- Green onions (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Mix the marinade ingredients in a bowl.
- Cut the spare ribs between the bones and marinate in the slow cooker.
- Set the slow cooker to low and cook for about 6 hours.
- Once cooked, place ribs on a baking sheet and baste with cornstarch mixture.
- Broil for 5-6 minutes until caramelized.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions before serving.
