- 5–6 drops red gel food coloring
- 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 large egg, room temperature (for the cheesecake layer)
- ¼ cup granulated sugar (for the cheesecake layer)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for the cheesecake layer)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8 square metal baking pan.
- Mix flour, cocoa powder, and salt in a bowl; set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and sugar, then add eggs, vanilla, and food coloring.
- Gradually fold in dry ingredients until fully incorporated.
- In another bowl, beat cream cheese and egg until smooth, then add sugar and vanilla.
- Pour red velvet batter into the pan, spread cream cheese mixture on top, then swirl reserved batter.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until done; cool, cut and serve.
