- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
- Crushed Candy Canes
- Optional: Candy Cane Peppermint Butter Mints
Instructions
- Cream butter with sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in eggs and vanilla until well blended.
- Sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt; mix with wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Scoop dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets, keeping scoops about two inches apart.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 8-10 minutes.
- Cool completely.
- Cream together butter and cream cheese for frosting.
- Add powdered sugar and peppermint extract, mixing until smooth.
- Frost cooled cookies and top with crushed candy canes.
