- 2 1/2 sticks salted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour (plus more for rolling)
- 1/2 cup ground slivered almonds
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 cup blackberry jam (or your favorite jam)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Cookie cutters (1 1/2 inches for bases, 3/4 inches for cutouts)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Whip the softened butter until smooth, then gradually add sugar and mix until fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, ground almonds, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Incorporate the dry mixture into the butter-sugar blend until just combined.
- Divide the dough into three sections, chill for 10 minutes.
- Roll out chilled dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a floured surface.
- Cut out base cookies with the larger cutter and create holes in half of them with the smaller cutter.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly brown.
- Cool cookies on a wire rack.
- Assemble with blackberry jam and dust with powdered sugar.
