- 3 large whole eggs
- 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 pound bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and toast whole almonds for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- In a large bowl, mix sugar, melted butter, orange liqueur, dark rum, vanilla extract, and orange zest.
- Beat in the eggs until smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a thick dough forms.
- Chill dough for 30 minutes, then shape into a loaf on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown, then cool for 15 minutes.
- Slice loaf into 12 pieces, then cut each in half.
- Arrange slices cut side down on baking sheets and bake for another 15-20 minutes.
- Melt chocolate in the microwave until smooth and dip biscotti ends in it.
