- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup Karo syrup
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate wafers (white or milk chocolate), melted
- 1/2 cup assorted toppings (sprinkles, crushed candy bars, crystal sugar, etc.)
Instructions
- Wash apples in a vinegar solution and let them dry.
- Insert sticks firmly into the tops of the apples.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt butter in a large nonstick Dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add sugars, Karo syrup, and sweetened condensed milk; stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring constantly until it reaches 240°F.
- Remove from heat; mix in salt and vanilla extract.
- Dip each apple into the warm caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
- Place dipped apples on the parchment-lined baking sheet to cool.
- Drizzle melted chocolate over cooled apples and add toppings.
