- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 cup greek yogurt
- 1 small cucumber, grated
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- salt and pepper to taste
- burger buns or pita bread
- lettuce, tomato, red onion for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Mix well and refrigerate to let the flavors meld while preparing the burgers.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, pepper, paprika, and the beaten egg.
- Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Divide the chicken mixture into four equal portions.
- Shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
- Once hot, carefully place the chicken patties in the pan.
- Cook for 5 to 7 minutes on each side, until thoroughly cooked and golden brown.
- If using buns, toast them on the grill or in the oven for added crunch.
- For pita, warm in a dry skillet or oven until soft.
- Place each burger patty on a bun or in pita bread.
- Top with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce.
- Add additional cucumber slices or herbs if desired.
