Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup greek yogurt
  • 1 small cucumber, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • burger buns or pita bread
  • lettuce, tomato, red onion for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix well and refrigerate to let the flavors meld while preparing the burgers.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, salt, pepper, paprika, and the beaten egg.
  4. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  5. Divide the chicken mixture into four equal portions.
  6. Shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  8. Once hot, carefully place the chicken patties in the pan.
  9. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes on each side, until thoroughly cooked and golden brown.
  10. If using buns, toast them on the grill or in the oven for added crunch.
  11. For pita, warm in a dry skillet or oven until soft.
  12. Place each burger patty on a bun or in pita bread.
  13. Top with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce.
  14. Add additional cucumber slices or herbs if desired.
