Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream together butter, sugar, and molasses.
- Incorporate egg and water until smooth.
- Mix flour, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg in a separate bowl.
- Combine dry ingredients with wet mixture to form dough.
- Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into shapes.
- Bake for 10 minutes until set and slightly darkened.
- Cool cookies on a wire rack.
- Prepare icing with egg whites, cream of tartar, vanilla, and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Decorate cooled cookies and let icing dry for at least one hour.
