Instructions

  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and confectioners' sugar in a medium bowl.
  • Beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add vanilla extract and egg to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until combined.
  • Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Divide dough into two portions, shape into disks, wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out each disk of dough and use heart-shaped cookie cutters to create cookies.
  • Transfer cookies to baking sheets and chill for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set and lightly golden.
  • Cool cookies on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  • Warm strawberry jam in a saucepan.
  • Spread jam on whole cookies and top with cutout cookies, dust with confectioners' sugar if desired.
  • Serve alongside tea or coffee or package as a gift.
