- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/4 cups strawberry jam (recommended: Smucker’s)
Instructions
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and confectioners' sugar in a medium bowl.
- Beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add vanilla extract and egg to the butter-sugar mixture and beat until combined.
- Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Divide dough into two portions, shape into disks, wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out each disk of dough and use heart-shaped cookie cutters to create cookies.
- Transfer cookies to baking sheets and chill for an additional 5 minutes.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are set and lightly golden.
- Cool cookies on baking sheets for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Warm strawberry jam in a saucepan.
- Spread jam on whole cookies and top with cutout cookies, dust with confectioners' sugar if desired.
- Serve alongside tea or coffee or package as a gift.
