- 1 cup butter (salted or unsalted)
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 40 saltine crackers (about one sleeve)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups milk chocolate chips (or your preferred chocolate)
- 1 cup chopped pecans, walnuts, or M&M's (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar, stirring continuously until bubbling.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the crackers, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 6 minutes.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let soften for 3-4 minutes.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
- Top with chopped pecans or M&M's.
- Allow to cool at room temperature or in the fridge, then slice and serve.
