- 1/2 cup (112 g) unsalted butter (for frosting)
- 1/4 tsp salt (for frosting)
- 3/4 cup (60 g) Dutch-process cocoa powder (for frosting)
- 2 1/4 cups (292 g) powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 6 tbsp (90 ml) heavy cream (for frosting)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare the pan.
- Mix all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- Cream softened butter with granulated sugar until fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients, adding buttermilk gradually.
- Incorporate hot coffee into the batter.
- Pour batter into the cake pan and bake for 48-52 minutes.
- For frosting, melt butter and mix with salt and cocoa powder.
- Gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream, mixing until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cake and add toppings as desired.
