- 1 cup butter*, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons warm water
- 2 and 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 and 3/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips, for pressing on top
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Prepare a 9×13 inch pan with parchment or grease it.
- Dissolve baking soda in warm water and set aside.
- Beat softened butter in a mixing bowl for about 2 minutes until fluffy.
- Add granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until fluffy.
- Incorporate eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.
- Add dissolved baking soda mixture; mix for at least 1 minute.
- Mix in flour, cornstarch, and salt until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips gently.
- Transfer dough to the pan, pressing evenly and flattening the top.
- Press additional chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 25-27 minutes until golden and the center is firm.
- Let cool before slicing and enjoying.
