- 6 hot dog buns
- 6 beef hot dogs
- 3 cups prepared chili (with or without beans, homemade or canned)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (plus more for sautéing)
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 cup diced white onion
- 1 and 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a 13×9-inch baking dish.
- Cut hot dog buns into bite-sized pieces.
- Melt 4 tablespoons of butter and mix in garlic salt to create garlic butter.
- Coat hot dog bun pieces with garlic butter.
- Layer the coated bun pieces in the baking dish.
- Cut hot dogs into bite-sized pieces and sauté in butter until browned.
- Combine sautéed hot dogs with chili.
- Pour the chili mixture over the bun layer in the baking dish.
- Add diced onion and cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, then let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
