  • 22½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, finely chopped and drained
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar for rolling
  • 24 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Cream together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in salt, maraschino cherry juice, and almond extract; add food coloring if desired.
  • Gradually add all-purpose flour until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.
  • Fold in chopped maraschino cherries.
  • Scoop and roll dough into balls, then roll in granulated sugar.
  • Place on baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie right after baking.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
