- 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick oats)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt, divided
- 35–40 soft caramel candies, unwrapped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a bowl, then stir in brown sugar and vanilla extract.
- Add flour, oats, baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt; mix until a thick dough forms.
- Press half the dough into the baking pan and bake for 10 minutes.
- Melt caramel candies and heavy cream in a saucepan, mixing until smooth; stir in remaining salt.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the baked crust, pour caramel sauce on top, and crumble remaining dough over.
- Bake for an additional 15-18 minutes until edges are browned and center is bubbly.
- Cool completely for at least 4 hours, then lift from pan and slice into squares.
