  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick oats)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 3540 soft caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Melt the butter in a bowl, then stir in brown sugar and vanilla extract.
  • Add flour, oats, baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt; mix until a thick dough forms.
  • Press half the dough into the baking pan and bake for 10 minutes.
  • Melt caramel candies and heavy cream in a saucepan, mixing until smooth; stir in remaining salt.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over the baked crust, pour caramel sauce on top, and crumble remaining dough over.
  • Bake for an additional 15-18 minutes until edges are browned and center is bubbly.
  • Cool completely for at least 4 hours, then lift from pan and slice into squares.
