  • Orange gel food coloring
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon salt (for frosting)
  • 2 ½ cups confectioner's sugar
  • ½ cup candy corn
  • Yellow and orange sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare an 8×8 baking pan with butter and parchment.
  • Cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg and vanilla, mixing until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.
  • Divide dough in half and color one half yellow and the other orange.
  • Press yellow dough into the bottom of the pan and layer with orange dough.
  • Bake for 18-22 minutes until set, then cool on a rack.
  • To prepare frosting, cream softened butter and add vanilla, then gradually mix in powdered sugar and heavy cream.
  • Spread frosting on cooled bars and decorate with candy corn and sprinkles.
  • Cut into 9 squares and serve.
