- 1 (9-inch) pie crust
- 3 large bananas, sliced into 1/4-inch slices
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- 3 large egg yolks, beaten
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Cool Whip for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven and bake pie crust as per package instructions.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, flour, and salt; gradually add milk.
- Heat mixture over medium, stirring until thickened.
- Temper egg yolks with warm pudding, then add back to saucepan.
- Cook until thick, then stir in butter and vanilla.
- Layer bananas in cooled crust, add half the pudding, repeat, and top with remaining pudding.
- Chill pie for at least 5 hours before serving.
- Serve with Cool Whip and banana slices.
